MGF/TF purchase
I'm thinking of buying a used MGF/TF ! ! I've read about the head gasket problem, but what other problems/faults do I have to look out for ?

how many words are you allowed in this forum i wonder.
there are a lot of things
check panel fit
check dashboard fit at each side that meets the a post
look under the carpets for signs of damp suspect leak at top of windowon bothsides
also look under boot carpet
engine cooling pipes under car can be rusty (large dia pipes0
the head gasket seems to be alucky dip some have never been replced at all like mine with 40k on the clock, (waiting for the day)
check coolant and oilcap for heinz 57 salad cream
does it have a spare wheel? best to have one for long runs to farflung parts
check gear lever for ist and 2nd gears can be akward to engage 9cable adjust reqd)
Rust on the underbody and the odd bit on the bodywork
that should keep you busy along with all the normal checks that the average punter would do
have fun and look me up somtime in oil rig towers just of the a77 (brown signs to guide you to our fun park and overpriced tearoom) and i will introduce you to lady oil but don't come with grbby fingernails puts her clean off a chap so it does and she can be quite scary if she spots them loking unmanicured

Despite all Lord Oils's valid comments I have to say that I like them!
Never driven one until earlier this year & was pleasantly surprised!
If you need details on the various ltd editions let me know.

Re: MGF/TF purchase
Like Cur10k have quite taken to the TF, bought an 04 135 Sunstorm at the beginning of last summer and +12 k miles later can honestly say it is an enjoyable car to drive either meandering down the lanes or pushing along on A and B roads when the super turn in and handling can be appreciated.
Head gaskets; there does not seem to be a pattern but when properly replaced should last.
Some good websites for info etc.
